Saving Up

I hate that I haven’t posted anything in a while. My laptop has reached its final stretch and I’m trying my best to drag it out as long as I can. The warranty ran out a year ago and the screen is starting to spider of the left side. Even though I just upgraded the operating system and cleared a ton of space it continues to just chug. That means no running heavy programs. Even games are becoming a challenge to play due to the lag and chugging. This old friend just can’t handle this stuff like it could in its days of youth.
I’m going on a cruise in September but after I return I’m going to save up for another computer, this time a desktop and something with a lot of power. The sculpting withdrawals are killing me. I can’t wait to get back into doing what I love most. In the meantime, I hope to get my hands on some canvas, acrylics, and brushes and start doing more traditional work during this down time. Maybe even some sculpey : ).

I work on this thing once in a blue moon. And we all know how often that is.

So I’ll give you a snippet of what I’ve been working on off and on, and I do literally mean it. I might touch this once a month. I might be bored with it? Perhaps it’s time I start a new model instead of revamping up old ones.
If you can, ignore the clothes, I sort of whipped those up just to get an idea of what I wanted him to wear. I think a tee and leather jacket will fit his personality better. Regardless, here’s Alexander Skarsgard (too lazy to look for the special “a”withacircleaboveit character!) or Eric Northman, it’s up to your imagination.

It’s been a while since I’ve last posted anything! The end of 2011 was really tough but now that 2012 is here, I’m looking forward to having a much better and hopefully easier year. I’m going to start picking up daily sketches again and posting them here, so please check back often!

Shota is witch woman from the wonderful Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind. She is known to be cunning, bewitching, and gorgeous. I’m currently halfway through reading Phantom and I loved the description of the scene where she appears for the first time in the book. I really wanted to try and capture that bewitching sort of air about her. I also plan on doing a series of sketches like this one of the rest of the characters.

Self portrait! I ended up fixing it today because many people had commented on how I had managed to make myself look 20 years older…So hopefully I made an improvement. : ). I’m going more in the direction of trying to accomplish an oil painting look in photoshop. I wish I had Corel Painter.

So I finally went back to that old painting I did and gave it some color. I realize I need more colored works in my portfolio since there is a rather overload of grayscale pieces.

Speed sculpt of Alexander Skarsgard I did in the wee hours of the morning. I slapped some color on it today and adjusted other details :D.

Not much done other than adding the bracers and hair today. It’s ready to go for retopo-ing, however, I’ll save it for tomorrow : ).

Did a little bit more work, but not much.  I really should spend more time on this. Almost done with the sculpting then I’ll be able to retopo for the low poly version, make some maps, and do some texturing. : )
